Egg muffins. The jw version of the Egg McMuffin.
My mom adopted the recipe and made them at home for us. We called them "Kingdom Muffins". (blech) Anyhow, I still make them on occasion. Yummy!

Songs that make you cry...
by El Kabong ini've been kind of sad the past few days for several reasons, but, there are certain songs that just cause the tears to flow whenever i hear them (and especially alone).
only time by enya.
i know that this song is often linked to the sept 11 attacks, but it really is just so hauntingly beautiful.

"I hope you all dont mind my long irrelevant rant, but it helps to write it down and share with others."
Your "rant" is indeed relevant. As you said, it helps to share it and get it out of your system.
Being raised in a cult is an experience that pervades every aspect of your life. Some days are easier than others. Just know that you are not alone and that we're here to listen.

Forms of Diversions / Sitting Quietly.
by Blueblades informs of divisions / sitting quietly.
do you fill every free moment of your day with some form of diversion?
here are some forms of diversions that i found keeps most of hectically busy.
-

I can sit quietly in that I don't need external diversions constantly. What I find my greatest distraction is my own mind and its constant churnings. I have recently taken to meditating, attempting to focus on my breath, but it's a hard thing for me to quiet my mind. The rat on the wheel refuses to stop.
Being in nature definitely helps. But I live in the concrete jungle and it's been a long winter. 8 hours til Spring. Wahoo!!!

Jehovah's Witnesses and Myspace
by tsunami_rid3r ini haven't been to a meeting in ages.
whats the rules on getting on myspace?
i ask because i added a friend of mine from my past congregation because he was cool with me, but later he removed me from his friends list.

Ummm...well. Looking thru jw eyes, in the 60 seconds I spent on your myspace page I noticed you have a tatoo, you were smoking a hookah pipe and you wax longingly about possibly becoming a monk. :)
So, if I was a good jw or wanting to appear a good jw, I would not consider you the best associate.
Now, as an apostate, I think you're pretty cool. ;)

I'm confused- Does it mean that I stumble someone if I drink Coffee?
by Verona ini was reading the post from truth seeker on the april 15 wt.
i went a little farther in the article and noticed the q& a indicating that some in the congregation may choose to abstain from cafeine.. this kind of reminds me of the hotdog incident, back in the 60's when we wouldn't be allowed to eat a hotdog because it offended some brothers and sisters with weaker consciences (they believed that hot dog weiners had blood in them).
so we became closet hotdog eaters for awhile.

One of the toughest things about the day-to-day life of being a jw is the whole stumbling thing. You can't make even the smallest of decisions without wondering if someone somewhere will be stumbled by your actions. It's like Big Brother is always watching over your shoulder waiting to pounce. If that's not a sign of a cult, not sure what is.
As for the coffee question, you can bet there will be some jw's that will now be stumbled if you drink coffee. And yet, I find it hard to believe that the coffee-loving dubs will be quick to give up their caffeine addiction, 'Question From Readers' be damned.

My wife "Rowan" needs of your support too.
by Gerard inmy wife 'rowan' was born and raised a jw, her father being an elder -a very gentle loving person, but an elder.. some years ago, she was betrayed by a close friend, subjected to a jc and was disfellowshiped & shunned.
the proceeding was completely void of mercy and love, it was much like a violation, a rape.
finding herself df'd was of course terrifying, but the most disapointing outcome was that her father sided with the elders.. eventually she discovered through select books, articles and this board about the fear-driven mind control ways of her religion.

"Some years ago, she was betrayed by a close friend, subjected to a JC and was disfellowshiped & shunned. The proceeding was completely void of mercy and love, it was much like a violation, a rape."
Oh, dear Rowan. I have been there. And yes, it is like a rape. I went through a jc 8 years ago this month. It was 6 hours of invasive interrogation. I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress as a result and still have flashbacks. I have only now begun to really feel what I went through and it hurts like hell.
My therapist described it as "mental rape" but in the body, it feels very similar to the physical act of rape. You were invaded. You were violated by people you trusted and who were supposed to help you. And to have your father, a man you loved and respected, side with these violators, is almost too much to bear isn't it? In my case, it was my mother who defended the elders and told me to "trust in Jehovah" to take care of matters. A complete mindfuck to say the least.
I won't offer you any cliched platitudes. What I can offer you is a hug and my listening ear and the empathy of someone who's been there and, many days, still is. Feel free to pm me anytime or contact me through my site at www.tallpenguin.com.
And thank you Gerard for being such a great support to your wife. It will make her journey that much easier.
Love,
